Free Pick of the Day
Tennessee woke up late and won 30-27 in OT, as LSU ("America's Team") blew a 21-0 halftime lead. Denver made short work of Kansas City in the NFL, jumping out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter of its 30-10 win. Scoring was way up in the NFL this past weekend, as the 14 games averaged 45.4 PPG, after averages of 38.4 (Week 1) and 35.3 (Week 2). 'Under' bettors got the 'cash' in 22 of the season's first 32 games but in Week 3, 'over' bettors won NINE of the 14 games. Finally, some pointspreads came into play in Week 3. Over the first two weeks, only Washington (Week 1) and Indianapolis (Week 2) won but failed to cover (Denver 'pushed' versus San Diego in Week 2). However, FIVE SU winners failed to 'cover' on Sunday. Starting from the top of the schedule (shameless plug!), the SU winners that lost ATS were St. Louis, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Tampa Bay and Dallas.
It's Elimination Week in MLB, as for the next three days the Giants play at the Padres in the NL West and the Angels at the A's in the AL West. The Giants won last night 4-3 and now trail the Padres by just three games with six games to go. In the West, the Angels beat the A's 4-3 last night and have all but wrapped up the division, leading by five games with six left.
Friday, attention will turn to the cities of Boston and Cleveland. The Yankees and Red Sox will square off in a three-game series at Fenway Park, while the White Sox will visit Jacobs Field for three games with Indians.
