Event: Montreal Canadiens vs New York Rangers on 10/31/2005 at 16:05
Condition: Under
This is the back end of a home-and-home series as the Rangers won up in Montreal 5-2 on Saturday. However, I am expecting a lower scoring affair here at Madison Square Garden where the Rangers are allowing a miniscule 1.50 goals per game so far this season! In fact, their overall goals against average of 2.33 goals per contest is good enough to be 5th best in the NHL. Also, their 5-goal outburst Saturday was a bit of an anomaly, and we do not expect a repeat performance vs. what is also usually a stingy Montreal defense. Even with that explosion, the UNDER is still 8-2 in the last 10 Ranger games overall. Those 5 goals allowed were a season high for the Canadiens, who are allowing just 2.91 goals per game overall.
Furthermore, they have been even tighter defensively on the road this year, where their GAA drops to 2.40, so we expect them to bounce back and buckle down tonight. Offensively, Montreal is averaging a modest 3.00 goals, and they again may have a difficult time getting the puck past Ranger goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, whose sparkling 1.60 GAA is currently second in the NHL!
