Free Pick of the Day
Tonight's CFB action features NC State at Ga Tech. After an ugly game Tuesday night in the SBC, the MAC gave us a better game last night, as Northern Illinois beat Miami-Ohio, 38-27. 'Over/under' players were sure interested, as the total opened 62 and closed late at 66, meaning we had winners, losers and some who just "kissed their sisters" (a good gig if your last name is Aniston or Locklear!). If one were to use comparative scores to handicap this game, NC State's 20-16 loss to Va Tech makes them the 'play' over Ga Tech, which lost to the Hokies 51-7! If ONLY it was that easy? Ga Tech is a four-point choice and the total is 44 1/2.
It's a travel day in the AL on Thursday, as the defending champs find themselves down 0-2 as they return to Fenway on Friday. The Red Sox were down last year to the Yankees in the ALCS 0-3 before winning four straight and now will have to win three straight this year against the White Sox. The Angels tied their series with the Yankees at one-all, as the teams resume play at Yankee Stadium on Friday. In the NL, the Cards are minus-$2.50 over the Padres in Game 2, as Mulder squares off versus Astacio (total is 8 1/2). In Atlanta, the Braves lost 10-5 yesterday and are in the proverbial must-win situation tonight in Game 2. Clemens versus Smoltz is about as good as it gets. Atlanta is a minus-$1.25 favorite and the total is 7.
