Free Pick of the Day

Eric Lindros plays against the Philadelphia Flyers for the first time as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs when the teams meet on Tuesday.

The 1995 Hart Trophy winner with the Flyers, Lindros scored 290 goals in eight seasons for Philadelphia before sitting out 2000-2001 with a head injury.

Unable to bring the Stanley Cup to Philadelphia, Lindros was plagued by concussions and had an unpleasant parting of the ways with the Flyers before spending three seasons with the New YorkRangers.

Lindros was one of three Toronto players who were unable to score in the shootout of Monday's 6-5 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Brian McCabe had a goal and two assists for the Maple Leafs, who have had third-period leads in all three gameswithout a win.

After opening the season with a loss at home to the Rangers, Philadelphia bounced back by scoring five unanswered goals in Friday's 5-2 triumph over the New Jersey Devils.
Simon Gagne scored twice for the Flyers and goaltender Antero Niitymaki stopped 26 shots to raise his NHL record to 4-0.

The teams will be meeting for the first time since Philadelphia ousted Toronto in six games in the second round of the 2003-2004 playoffs.

The National hockey Leagues new rules are having the effect that many pundits and prognosticators expected. A total of 255 goals have been scored, an average of 6.4 GPG to this point in the season (40 games). That is a 41% increase over the average of 4.5 goals combined average GPG in the first 40 games of the 2003-04 season. With that said I look for Flyers who are lead by Forsberg and wide array of offensive talent and averaging 4 GPG, to take part in what will be another high scoring affair with a offensively capable Toronto Maple Leafs squad, that continues to struggle in the defensive zone having allowed an average of 4.7 GPG . Play on the OVER
